Akoya Cultured Pearl from Japan and Vietnam #
Akoya pearls are a type of cultured saltwater pearl that is primarily produced in Japan. These pearls are produced by inserting a small bead and a piece of mantle tissue from a donor oyster into the reproductive organ of a host Akoya oyster. Akoya pearls are known for their high lustre and round shape. Usually, they have a white or cream body colour with overtone colours of pink, silver, or green.
Apart from Japan, Vietnam is another place to produce Akoya pearl.
China is the largest producer of freshwater pearls in the world. The production of freshwater pearls in China began in the 1970s and has since grown to be a significant industry, with pearl farms located in Zhejiang, Hunan, Hubei and Anhui. Chinese freshwater pearls come in various colours and shapes, including white, pink, peach, lavender, and metallic shades such as silver and gold. In addition, they can be round or baroque and have a smooth or textured surface.
South Sea Cultured Pearls from Myanmar, Philippines, Australia and Indonesia #
South Sea pearls have a variety of popular colours, and they are produced in different parts of the world. Myanmar and the Philippines are famous for the Golden South Sea cultured pearls. Australia and Indonesia are known for white and golden cultured pearls.
Tahiti Cultured Pearls from French Polynesia #
French Polynesia is a group of islands located in the South Pacific Ocean, and Tahiti is the largest and most populous island in French Polynesia. Tahiti is famous for its black sand beaches.
